RECYCLING & MANUFACTURE
A NEW LEASE OF LIFE
A NEW LEASE OF LIFE
WHY USE RECYCLED PLASTICS?
As we continue to become increasingly conscious of our environmental impact as a planet, using recycled plastics is a topic that has moved to the forefront of many unsuspecting industries looking for alternative ways to manufacture their products, whilst reducing waste and becoming responsible.
As a process, injection moulding produces little-to-no waste due to precision engineering. Using recycled materials is a solution that helps to keep plastics out of landfills, giving a second life to this valuable resource that is already circulating in our economy.
RECYCLED PLASTICS AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Using recycled plastic diminishes the reliance we currently have on fossil fuels. 16.3 barrels of oil are saved every time 1 tonne of plastic is recycled, further reducing the use of limited natural resources.
Less plastic ending up in landfill or in the oceans is a tangible, physical benefit of not using long lasting resources for a product designed to be thrown away. Using recycled plastics helps to put an end to a growing pollution problem that we can see with our own eyes.
BENEFITS BEYOND THE PHYSICAL
The benefits of using recycled plastics are also seen beyond the product, especially when used by a customer facing brand. Being able to show your commitment to sustainability with real action can help to build brand loyalty and put your product ahead of competitors, becoming the more conscious choice for consumers.
Changing to using recycled plastics now also prepares businesses to comply with current or future regulations and legislation designed to prevent the buildup of plastic waste in countries around the world.
As environmental concerns continue to grow, sustainable plastics are only going to continue to become more important within every industry.
COMPARING PLASTICS
While recycled plastics can’t always offer the same benefits as virgin plastics, they offer excellent strength, durability, resilience and finish.
Delivering high quality goods to each customer is our priority, and although recycled plastics can't boast the same claims as virgin plastics, particularly when withstanding extreme temperatures and handling greater impacts, the vast majority of products don’t need to meet these extremely high ‘virgin-quality’ specifications, and still exceed the strength and durability requirements needed for everyday use.
The parameters of the testing that virgin plastics undergo are designed to subject the plastics to extreme conditions and events that they will never need to resist in application.
OUR CAPABILITIES
RGE are able to source a variety of recycled plastics, and have the capabilities to work with bio plastics. We offer our own recycled material, made on site at our Regrind Centre in Whittlesey by breaking down old or damaged products.
With years of experience, our technical team are happy to advise of which material might be most suitable for your product, and our design team can adapt any designs to accommodate for any changes to functionality that may be seen with the use of recycled plastics, minimising any limitations with clever innovations.
